about

Seventeen days on the road
Motel 6 to Motel 6
Where lives in transition meet Pigboy and Biff
American archetypes – the rough underbelly
Mexican food/American fare
Carnitas, tamales, Carne Seca to spare

We see desert and dust, Emus and lizards
Teachin' and Preachin' 'bout makin' a livin'
In beer soaked basements where possibilities surprised
The New Troubadours, existentially casting
a net to the cosmos and sharing those trys
with the younger ones, burning so bright in the eyes

The northern redwoods, adjusted our view and hue and cry
in a way that made us hear new and differently
The weather report was constantly changing
and Jimi retold a story in a way I had never heard before

Makes you realize that ears get much better with age,
and the more you listen the more you see
that verbs of will in an unsure world
give credence to hope, not useless cooing

Whatever it takes to keep those eyes bright,
I know that the difference is in the doing.
